PROCEDURES FOR NOMINATING MEMBERS FOR AWARDS

All club members may be considered for a Garden Club of Wilmington and/or GCA Awards. Contact the Awards Chairman if you would like to suggest someone for nomination.  Club and GCA Awards recognize and thank our members for their contributions, and giving these awards is a way of honoring those valued and talented member of our club and our community.

The considered recipient's name should remain confidential until the time the award is presented.  The Awards Committee deliberations are confidential. GCW and GCA Club awards are typically presented at the Annual Meeting in June.

GCA awards may be given to recognize both members and non-members whose accomplishments and efforts further the GCA mission. GCA Awards are divided into 4 categories: GCA National Awards, GCA National Medals, Club & Zone Awards and Flower Show Awards.

GCW and GCA Club awards are intended for a single recipient.  Certain awards may be proposed to be received by more than one person if they have collaborated on a single effort.  A recipient may receive each GCA Club award only once. Additional information about all GCA awards is available on the GCA website.

Members may be asked to assist the committee in preparing the award proposals and writing the award citation. Questions related to club and/or GCA award proposals should be directed to the Awards Committee Chair.

The GCA also recognizes other significant achievements, either through monetary awards or public acknowledgment – or both.  Contact the appropriate Chairman if you would like to suggest someone for nomination for one of these awards.
