 NEW MEMBERS COMMITTEE

The committee provides core information for new Club Members to enable them to understand the organization, their role and to ensure that these new Members feel welcome, valued and part of the Club.

MEET OUR NEWEST MEMBERS for 2023

Carrie Wiles, proposed by Wendy Russell

Carrie has worked in the horticulture for years. She is currently the Marketing Manager for North Creek Nurseries, a wholesale native plant nursery. She has been an instructor at Longwood Gardens and lectures around the country. Margaret Roach featured her advice on maintaining a home rain garden in the New York Times in 2021, She is serves on the Board at DCH and is in the past president of the Landscape and Nurseryman’s Association and a judge at the PHS Show. She is hard at work restoring and planting her home garden. 

Kay Ellsworth, proposed by Sally DeWees

Kay is a lawyer by trade and with her professional horticulturist husband Jeff have built a beautiful home in Chadds Ford. Kay's specialty is vegetable gardening but helps her husband with selecting native plantings and clearing invasives on their property. 

Clair Van Eps, proposed by Libbie Fiechter

Clair is a part time equine veterinarian at the New Bolton Center. She has a deep love for gardening and nurturing plants from her native England. Her knowledge of roses is apparently extraordinary. 

Joan Isken, proposed by Mary Patterson

Joan and her family have lived on a five acre property that was once a nursery, dated back to the 1900's. Her passion is caring for the specimen trees (some 100 years old), beds of peonies, dahlia's and a butterfly and hummingbird garden. 

Caroline Jenney, proposed by Anna Biggs

The sister of Anne Day, Caroline takes pride in maintaining the lush oasis in the back of her home in Wilmington and creates a potted escape at her home in Rehoboth Beach. She has quite a collection of inside plants that all come outside in the spring and summer. Her collection of Clivia and Myrtle are outstanding.

Patti Miller, proposed by Elaine Scott

Patti and her husband Jake recently moved to her in-laws farm in Kennett Square. The garden she inherited and getting to know is full of spring and fall bulbs. She has plans to create a butterfly and cutting garden. 

Alletta Laird Tate, proposed by Peggy Barton

The daughter of Ann Wick, Alletta and her family have moved back to Wilmington from Richmond, VA. They moved into Ann and Cal's home and inherited a woodland property full of wildflowers and ephemeral in the spring. Alletta and her husband share a love for gardening and are enjoying getting to know the gems on the property. 

Emily Deitrick, proposed by Carroll Eaton

Emily and her husband moved to Wilmington from Chicago in 2021 and became instant friends with many of our members who live in the Wawaset neighborhood.  Emily is a former member of the Garden Guild of Winnetka and shares our passion for learning all things plants and horticulture.
